The ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is a 10 or 13-digit number which uniquely identifies books and book-like products published internationally. Each number identifies a unique edition of a publication, from one specific publisher. For example:

The ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) is an 8-digit number which uniquely identifies periodical publications, including electronic serials. For example:
